As the weather gets colder and we hear that snow is forecast in some parts of the country, I would like to clarify arrangements for school closure should it be necessary.
School will only close as a last resort having due regard for health and safety arrangements, staffing levels and implications for parents who may have to arrange childcare. If the weather is severe I discuss school closure with the Chair of Governors before informing the Local Authority. Mrs Holliday will then email parents and a board will be put outside school. In all other circumstances please assume that the school will be open. There is no need to telephone the school.
In these exceptional circumstances please can I advise parents to look at the Essex County Council website http://www.essex.gov.uk/Education-Schools/Schools/Dates/Pages/Emergency-School-Closures.aspx and the school website www.wethersfieldprisch.co.uk
I hope this information will be useful in the future, should the situation arise.
Mrs C. Shingleton
