Locate Egypt on a world map, can you find out which continent it is part of and what type of climate it has? There is a very famous river which runs through Egypt can you find out its name and figure out where it begins and ends?
For this task I would like you to research these geography questions first and then find out how the Egyptians used the river for transport and what types of boats they used. You can present this information as a poster or an advert for a travel brochure. Alternatively, why not make your own map of Egypt and the river and create a model boat to sit on it in 3D? (See boat construction file for help with this).
Investigate light - what materials are reflective, do these materials show up in the dark better too? Can you create shadows in the darkness using a torch and different items from home and explore how the distance of the torchlight from the object affects the size of the shadow?
For this task I would like you to have a go at exploring these questions and then looking at refraction by making your own rainbow (See rainbow instructions file). Write up your rainbow experiment by explaining what you did and what is happening to the light. Use secondary resources such as books and the internet to help you understand refraction - don't forget to include a drawing or picture to help explain it!
Watch the film clip of Stomp musical group https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADIBmSWmO4o&safe=true
How do they make the sounds? Do they play it to a rhythm and does it change? Create your own sounds using household items (with parental permission), can you keep a rhythm like Stomp? Can you play to the beat of your favourite song? Experiment with sounds and rhythms, can you block the sound someone else makes with your hands on your ears, or using a material, moving into another room? I would like you to understand how to keep music to a beat but also research and understand how we hear the music. This clip with Dr Binocs will help you understand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdGyvGPZ1G0 After watching, can you verbally explain it to an adult or sibling?
